Club Nouveau and Nisha Pahuja Step into the Cypher

photo-49Sometime in our lives, we all have pain, we all have sorrow but if we are wise we tune in to Cypher Lounge Radio each Wednesday night at 7pm PST for the latest and greatest in sophisticated ignorance with hosts Hassahn Phenomenon and Dasha, The Divine Divah.

This week the dynamic duo welcome the legendary R&B icons, Club Nouveau to the Cypher.  Club Nouveau was nominated for a Grammy for Best R&B Performance in 1987. Their version of “Lean on Me” was their most celebrated hit resulting in a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year in addition to winning the Grammy for Best R&B Song that same year.  In 2013, the group independently released their newest single, “That Ain’t Love,” and is currently set for an independent release of their newest album, Consciousness, this year. Their current roster consists of original vocalists Jay King, Valerie Watson English, and Samuelle Prater. We have all three of them stopping by the Cypher Lounge to chop it up with Dasha and HP.

Also joining the party this week is acclaimed director, Nisha Pahuja.  She is coming through to talk about her award winning film, The World Before Her.  If you haven’t heard of this masterpiece, it’s damn good!  The World Before Her is a tale of two Indias. In one, Ruhi Singh is a small-town girl competing in Bombay to win the Miss India pageant—a ticket to stardom in a country wild about beauty contests. In the other India, Prachi Trivedi is the young, militant leader of a fundamentalist Hindu camp for girls, where she preaches violent resistance to Western culture, Christianity and Islam. Moving between these divergent realities, the film creates a lively, provocative portrait of the world’s largest democracy at a critical transitional moment—and of two women who hope to shape its future.

As always, we have DJ Mark 1 doing what he does best live in the Six Minute Mix.  Come have a damn good time with us and make sure you Tune-In Sucka!
